Direct Report: Welding Supervisor
Duties & Responsibilities
- Report to the warehouse as requested
- Knowing Lynn Safety’s “RULES FOR ALL FIELD TECHNICIANS”
- Responsible for reading and knowing design documents for each particular project
- Responsible for keeping good notes on provided roof plans that are clear and legible
- Must initial or sign next to notes
- Must make notes on any changes from the design drawings that occur on site and report to Project Coordinator same day.
- Assisting Welder and Welding Supervisor as requested/required
- Assist with Field Install welds, including Lynn Safety Equipment to structures on New Construction and Existing Structures
- Perform small tasks in the shop as required by Welder or Welding Supervisor to assist with completing tasks
- Coordinate with Project Coordinator and other Field Technicians for efficient installations
- De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture for Welder to weld
- Setting up components for welding according to specifications
- Operate Angle Grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Align Components using calipers, clamps, etc.
- Assist Welder when welding components in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead) as directed and in a timely fashion
- Test & inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
- Maintain equipment in a good condition that does not compromise safety
- Delivery & Pickups as scheduled/determined by Welding Supervisor
- Responsible for taking care of company property such as tools, radios, tool bags, etc.
- If proper care is not taken of company property, appropriate actions will be taken
- Responsible for reporting damaged tools or property to Welding Supervisor
- Responsible for filling out Incident Report for lost or damages of Lynn Safety property or customer property and submitting to Welding Supervisor
- Turning in job tickets to Operations Team the day of completion of that project
- Job tickets are to be turned in the day of completion for that project/task
- Gather information and reporting to Project Coordinator or Welding Supervisor on projects as requested/scheduled
- Knowing and understanding what tools are used for and the appropriate use of tools
- Installing equipment specified in design and engineered drawings specific to what is called out for in design drawings
- If discrepancies exist between onsite conditions and design drawings, report to Welding Supervisor immediately for determination in next step
- Responsible for taking photos each day while on site
- Responsible for taking dimensions in the field of equipment installed or equipment needed to be replaced
- Responsible for filling out tracking receipts if one has not been provided when delivering or removing equipment from a client’s building
- Assisting the Supervisors and Office Staff in keeping the warehouse clean
- Side tasks as requested by Welding Supervisor or Operations Manager
- Assisting Welder in welding from suspended Platforms as required/needed
- Assistance in emergency rescue when required
- Loading and unloading of vehicles at completion or beginning of work
- Making sure all trucks are stocked with tools or equipment needed for each project
- Checklists for each type of project have been provided to assist with what tools or materials/equipment is needed for each specific type
- Reporting to Welding Supervisor any issues that arise
- Filling out Request forms for any tools or items needed for work and submitting to Supervisor
- Following Welding Supervisor instructions for each project
- Reporting to Project Coordinator and Supervisors as to the status of a project when requested
- Communicating to clients as to the status of a project if directed to do so by Project Coordinator or Supervisor
- Performing work within the time required
- If additional time is required, report to Welding Supervisor
- Responsible for ensuring roofs and all surrounding areas and items are protected while welding and that there are fire extinguishers present and in hand
- Responsible for Fire Protection anytime welding is performed.
Welder Assistant Tech Skills Required
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Driver’s license
- Experience working on construction sites with power tools and manual tools
- Knowledge of construction site best practices and safety procedures
- Ability to travel to jobs located up to 300 miles away
- Construction Safety Training
